It is with great pleasure and much excitement that I announce my candidacy for the Boca Raton City Council. The election is on March 10th, right around the corner! You’re probably curious as to why I am doing this. Well, there are many reasons, but my desire to serve on the Boca Raton City Council is borne from three primary things:
1. The fulfillment I receive from helping others by way of (a) direct personal relationships I have made through my law firm and the many organizations on which I serve; (b) my enjoyment of prior local civic involvement (such as my position on the City of Hollywood Planning and Zoning Board); and (c) my experience with community leadership (for example, as President and Board Member of the Estancia West Homeowners’ Association).
2. The desire to provide my knowledge, vision and commitment to the City of Boca Raton and to play a role in maintaining and enhancing the quality of life for its citizens, businesses and visitors.
3. The continuing need for qualified and accountable people who are capable of making tough decisions in a leadership role in local government.
As a practicing attorney for almost 22 years in South Florida, I have owned and operated my own law firm since 1991. I moved my firm to Boca Raton in March 1994, and have been located here continuously since that time. My firm employs seven (7) people and represents many entities and people in Boca Raton, the South Florida area and throughout Florida with their varied real estate and business matters. My education, training and experience have enabled me to develop the skills and know-how to serve the citizens of Boca Raton well and to effectively perform my duties as a City Councilmember. And, while my “job” is that I am a lawyer, I am really a business owner with the usual business owner issues: striving to provide excellent service, earning a living, handling employer/employee issues, marketing my business and services, preparing annual budgets (and adjusting them when needed), balancing my books, fulfilling my duty as a taxpayer and citizen, etc.
With multiple hurricanes and tropical storms, homeland security issues, bursting dot.com and real estate bubbles, and now a severe credit crunch and recession, the past few years have presented considerable challenges for the citizens of Boca Raton. I am proud that I have successfully led and grown my law business and effectively guided my homeowners’ association during these years. Running my own business for these past 18 years; participating in, and providing leadership for, multiple organizations as a Director, President, and Treasurer; and making important decisions with the understanding and acceptance of being accountable all give me very valuable real-life experience and skills to be a valuable Member of the City of Boca Raton Council.
Boca Raton is a great place to live, work and play. You have my commitment to make sure it stays that way, and to work diligently to add to all of the great successes of prior City Councils, thus making our City all that it can be!
You can help my campaign by sending much needed resources and by volunteering your time and energy - both are critically important to my success in this campaign. I need to build name identification and spread my positive message to the voters of Boca Raton. As March 10, Election Day, is just around the corner, getting organized quickly is of critical importance.
Please join me in this exciting endeavor; together we can and will make a positive difference in Boca Raton!
